About the British Rail Class 31
The British Rail Class 31, originally known as the Brush Type 2, entered service in the late 1950s and became a familiar sight on passenger and freight duties throughout Britain.
During the British Rail sectorisation period, locomotives were allocated to specific operating sectors, with Railfreight Petroleum handling traffic such as fuel and oil products.
The distinctive Railfreight Petroleum livery makes this model particularly suitable for OO Gauge layouts depicting the late 1980s and early 1990s, especially those featuring petroleum tank wagons and freight operations.
