About LMS Diesel Locomotive 10000
Locomotive 10000 was Britain's first mainline diesel-electric locomotive, built at Derby for the LMS and entering service in 1947.
Designed under the direction of H. G. Ivatt, it was later joined by sister locomotive 10001.
Both locomotives entered British Railways service following nationalisation and played an important role in the development of mainline diesel traction in Britain.
The attractive BR Lined Green livery makes this model particularly suitable for layouts depicting the early British Railways period.
