About Diesel Locomotive 10000
Locomotive 10000 was Britain's first mainline diesel-electric locomotive, built at Derby for the LMS and entering service in 1947.
Together with sister locomotive 10001, it helped demonstrate the potential of diesel traction for mainline passenger operations.
Following nationalisation, both locomotives entered British Railways service, making this model particularly suitable for layouts depicting the early transition from steam to diesel traction.
