About Diesel Locomotive 10001
Locomotive 10001 was one of two pioneering LMS mainline diesel-electric locomotives, alongside 10000.
Built at Derby and entering service in 1948, 10001 helped demonstrate the potential of diesel traction for mainline passenger operations in Britain.
The pair subsequently operated under British Railways, making this model an interesting addition to layouts depicting the early transition from steam to diesel traction.

The locomotive is supplied in its Bachmann box, which shows shelf wear from previous handling and storage.
