About the Beattie Well Tank
The Beattie 0298 Class Well Tanks were originally built for the London & South Western Railway in the 1860s.
Designed by Joseph Beattie, these compact 2-4-0 well tank locomotives became particularly associated with the Wenford Bridge branch in Cornwall, where three examples survived into British Railways service.
Their unusual design and long working lives make them popular subjects for Southern Railway and branch line layouts.
Packaging and Important Information
