About the British Rail Class 23
The British Rail Class 23, commonly known as the Baby Deltic, was a small class of ten diesel-electric locomotives built by English Electric in 1959.
Powered by a compact Napier Deltic engine, the locomotives were primarily associated with services on the Eastern Region, particularly routes from London King's Cross.
Their distinctive appearance and relatively short working lives make them an interesting addition to layouts depicting the early British Rail diesel era.
