Description
Hornby's highly detailed TT:120 English Electric Class 37 returns for a further run. With a weighty diecast chassis, working lights, smooth 5-pole twin-flywheel drive and a tooling suite that captures the different Class 37 sub-classes, the 'Tractor' is a must for any TT:120 diesel-era layout. Length approx. 155mm.
Built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, this locomotive entered traffic as D6843 in May 1963. It worked from Cardiff Canton, spent eight years in Scotland, and returned to South Wales in 1974 having become 37143 under TOPS. In 1985 it was rebuilt as a ballasted Class 37/7 for heavy coal and steel trains and renumbered 37800. Named 'Cassiopeia', it is one of twelve Europhoenix-owned 37s, on loan to Rail Operations Group and still in service.
