Description
An all-new TT:120 model of the Mk2F Restaurant First Buffet, based on Hornby's detailed Mk2F tooling and the ideal catering vehicle for an existing rake of Mk2F coaches. The RFBs were converted from surplus Mk2F First Opens from the late 1980s, letting long-distance InterCity and Cross Country trains serve refreshments. Length approx. 168mm.
The Mk2F was the final development of BR's Mk2 family, introducing air conditioning, plastic interior panelling, a new style of seating and tinted windows. Only three types were built new, with some First Opens later converted to RFBs.
This version: TT4090 depicts No. M1212 in retro BR blue & grey with 'Buffet' branding, as operated by West Coast Railways, Era 11.
