Description
The Class 314 was the Scottish member of the PEP family: sixteen three-car units built at BREL York and introduced in 1979 for the newly reopened Argyle Line through Glasgow. Unlike the dual-voltage 313, the 314 was built purely for 25kV overhead operation.
The units became a familiar part of the Glasgow suburban network, working the Argyle and North Clyde lines and later the Cathcart Circle, Paisley Canal and Inverclyde routes, before being withdrawn in December 2019 after 40 years of service.
Revolution Trains' all-new N gauge (1:148) Class 314 captures the PEP family's distinctive flat-fronted look in fine detail, with a low-profile motor hidden in the centre car and power and control carried through the close couplings, so all wheels pick up and a single decoder runs the whole unit.
