The X37 “Swift” service, linking Glasgow and Falkirk, has become a familiar and well-regarded feature of public transport across central Scotland. Operated by McGill’s Bluebird, the route provides a fast, modern express connection between two major urban centres.
Branded under McGill’s striking Swift identity, the X37 is typically worked by Alexander Dennis Enviro400 double-deckers finished in the distinctive Bluebird blue livery. These buses represent the modern face of inter-urban travel, combining high capacity, contemporary design and strong visual presence — making them instantly recognisable on the road.
For Rainbow Railways, the X37 has a particularly close and personal connection. Our retail facilities in Linlithgow sit just moments from the route by jumping on the teh X38 service to Edinburgh.
That local link is exactly why we’re super-happy to be offering a highly detailed Northcord model of this very bus. We currently stock the Northcord UK6547 ADL Enviro400, representing McGill’s Bluebird Swift fleet number 8949 (SN66 WGZ), produced in 1:76 scale to match standard OO gauge layouts and collections.
The model captures the clean lines and modern styling of the real Enviro400, along with accurate Swift branding and Bluebird livery details. It’s an ideal addition for anyone modelling contemporary Scottish transport, building a realistic modern streetscape, or simply wanting a miniature version of a bus that’s a familiar sight across Glasgow, Falkirk and Linlithgow.
There’s something particularly special about stocking a model that represents a service so close to home. Whether you’ve travelled on the X37 yourself or just appreciate modern bus operations, this Northcord release brings a genuine piece of transport beauty in miniature form.

At Rainbow Railways, we’re always proud to support models that celebrate local routes, local operators and real-world connections — and the Glasgow–Falkirk X37 Swift service is a perfect example.

What fantastic customer service from Mark and the team at Rainbow! My online request was quite involved, but nothing was too much trouble and they were able to supply just what I wanted. Definitely the place to go if personal, human interaction is how you prefer to shop!Posted on Google![]()

Rainbow Railways is on my list for the shop that has the items I can’t get down south . So I do browse every now and again . Staff have been very helpful in the past with an order where I had to swap out a container for a similar one . That’s good service as I was notified back then before sending , this allowed me to pick one I recall - simple and job done for the container order . Now today fits the bill for finding the popular wagon , plus a couple more , had one in stock which sold out in my local region . I’ve also found on this site others in the past at great deals too . Can’t complain excellent service.Posted on Google![]()

Very well priced, quick to dispatch and that's backed up by knowledgeable and service-focused people. When I had a small problem with one of my models (not their fault, rare manufacturer issue) they went above and beyond to get it sorted. Definitely one of the local model railway shops we should be supporting, both in person and online. Recommended without hesitation.Posted on Google![]()
